Trip through Germany with Mike and Melissa

This is a picture of the entrance to one of King Ludwig's castles.  This was far and away my favorite place that we visited on this trip.  There was a lot of really great sculpture and some of the best fountains in the world.  Here is a composite picture that I assembled from four separate images.

If you turn around after looking at the above entrance then you can see the central pool and a gazebo off in the distance.  Here are Gina and Melissa in front of the pool and fountain.

We took a tour through the castle and there was a lot to see.  It was patterned after the palace at versailles which isn't one of my favorites but there were some things that I liked such as this peacock.  You can see our guide in the background behind Gina.  He was an excellent guide and pointed out a lot of interesting things such as the ceiling painting that has a pair of legs hanging out of it.

When you leave the castle you come out at my favorite fountain in all of Germany.  The pictures don't do it justice.  It is a setting with the king of the sea riding seahorses into battle.

We toured another one of King Ludwig's castles and weren't allowed to take pictures until we got back outside.  We took some pictures at various fountains but they were nothing compared to the ones above.

After touring the castle we walked up to the bridge above.  There was a guy dressed up in the traditional clothes of Bavaria.

One hazard of traveling around in the forest are these slugs.  You can see how big this one is.  I can tell you from first hand experience that they make a mighty SQUISH if you accidentally step on one.  It feels really gross and the slug enjoys it not at all.
